Jacob Lake Inn is located in the middle of the Kaibab Plateau and the Kaibab National Forest and has no fish population to speak of in its immediate surroundings. This does not mean that anglers will go unsatisfied when staying at Jacob Lake Inn. We recommend the following:

Lees Ferry

If fishing is on your agenda, Lee's Ferry on the Colorado River is one of the premier spots in the Southwest. A mere 45 minutes from Jacob Lake Inn, its reputation comes from the high quality of the fishing and a landscape to match. A tailwater fishery, with exceptional water quality (water temperature fluctuates between 46-48 degrees), the Colorado River at Lee's Ferry consistently produces healthy rainbow trout between 16 and 22 inches. A big, fast-flowing river, the Colorado provides varied opportunities for the angler. Whether your fancy is sight fishing in slow shallows at the rivers edge to rising trout or pounding them in deep runs, you will find it here. There are multiple walk-in areas or you can hire a guide and boat to take you up river. Lee's Ferry is managed as trophy trout water with fishing restricted to single barbless hooks only and a slot limit, so be certain to check out current regulations before heading out.

Southern Utah

Southern Utah provides excellent small stream fishing in an unparalleled location. The opportunities are variable. Access ranges from easy walking to strenuous hiking. Take your pick of wild rainbow trout, brown trout, cutthroat trout, or brook trout. Choose an adventure based on your particular desires and skills. Stopping in at a local gas station and asking a few questions can often lead to a fine experience that is off the beaten path. The closest streams to Jacob Lake Inn are Asay Creek and Mammoth Creek which join to form the Sevier River and the North Fork of the Sevier. Another option is to fish the reservoirs in the area such as Navajo Lake and Panguitch Lake.
